You're probably doing a little bit of research on relocating and moving to our area or maybe you've just started in your search and considering Beaverton as your final destination. Whether you're moving across town, across the state, or even across the country, let me share a little bit about Beaverton and why a lot of us love living here.

Located in Washington County, Beaverton is just 7 miles west of downtown Portland. It's one of the cities that make up the Portland metro area. It's home to about 100,000 residents making it the second-largest city in the county and the sixth-largest city in the state of Oregon. Along with neighboring Hillsboro, Beaverton is an economic center for a lot of world headquarters like Nike, Providence Health Systems, Comcast cable, and several other tech companies. Beaverton sits on the western border of Portland and is considered one of the fastest developing areas in Oregon. If you're looking to move outside the major metropolitan city of Portland but don't want to deal with a lot of the traffic along North and South I-5, Beaverton is a nice alternative. However, there's also a good job market right in Beaverton. The technology sector is one of Beaverton's high-priority industries. Fortune 500 tech companies as well as Intel, the Beaverton School District, and of course Nike's headquarters are all located in Beaverton.

Things to do in Beaverton

You don't have to go far for all of the comforts of home and the amenities you need right in Beaverton nestled in the Tualatin Mountains along the Willamette River is Forest Park, a 5000-acre open space area complete with a beautiful urban forest, breathtaking views, and over 70 miles of trails. It's a popular spot for hiking, field trips, biking, or taking great photographic shots of scenic bridges and boardwalks.

Of course, we have tried and true favorites like McDonald's, Starbucks, and all those fast food places we love but they also have great original dining options as well such as the La Provence Boulangerie and Patisserie, a wonderful hometown dining experience and French bakery for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Plus, for that special occasion, they even offer fantastic custom cakes. This is just one of Beaverton's amazing restaurants and you don't have to travel far to enjoy the amazing food scene. There are dozens of independent cafés, farm-to-table restaurants, and unique little whimsical eateries. If you are a foodie like me, you'll love living in Beaverton.

The Beaverton farmers market is a popular hotspot open May through September featuring over 150 local vendors. The market is open every Saturday from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM and it's one of my favorite places to plan my weekly menu. From local produce, artisan cheeses, homemade bread and pastries, locally sourced meats, and of course, arts and crafts, you can literally plan your menu out, enjoy some fabulous music, and grab a bite to eat all without leaving the market floor.

Beaverton Schools

Beaverton has the third-largest school district in the state and is touted as one of the best. It has plenty of public school options as well as private schooling two. For procedures post-secondary schools nearby, college-age students attend Northwest College, Portland University, Portland State University, Reed College, and Lewis & Clark College.

Beaverton has its own Beaverton school District with six public high schools, nine middle schools, and 34 elementary schools. They have several optional schools to such as the Arts and Communication Magnet Academy, the Beaverton Academy of Science and Engineering, a local community school, the International School of Beaverton, and a couple of schools that handle grades 7 and 8; Raleigh Hills and Springville. In addition to schools, they have multiple education and academic programs from automotive technology and construction technology to Early College high school, health careers, manufacturing, environmental science, and science and sustainability. It's easy to see why Beaverton comes in as one of the top districts in the state as well as the country.Beaverton real estate

The popularity of Beaverton has definitely increased home prices over the last decade. More folks are moving out of Portland and finding Beaverton to be one of the best places to live in the metro area. With dozens of parks, beautiful views, great schools, and a plethora of activities and things to do, you don't even need to leave town for all the amenities one could want. For this reason, Beaverton home prices are slightly higher than a lot of other suburbs around Portland. The median home value is about $380,000 and 49% of residents own their own homes. Rent is quite affordable, however, with median rent at about $1300 per month. You'll find condominiums, townhouses, duplexes, single-family homes, luxury estates, and even acreage. Prices are anywhere from $200,000 to over $2 million. There are plenty of homes in gated communities, homeowner association subdivisions, neighborhoods with amazing amenities like clubhouses and swimming pools, or, find your perfect ranch home out in the boondocks of Beaverton.
